Time for lawyers to discharge their debt to the community by helping the COVID-19 cause: Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi has helped the Delhi government transform an old bus into a mobile laboratory for Coronavirus testing, and to acquire Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to face the COVID-19 pandemic..Speaking to Bar & Bench, Rohatgi said that he got in touch with the Health Minister of the Delhi government to understand what all they needed and queried if he could help in a "small way."."I was informed that the Delhi government desperately needed the conversion of an old bus into a laboratory so that the bus can move from place to place and that they also needed personal protective equipments or PPEs for health care workers.".Thereafter, the Sub -Divisional Magistrate (SDM) got in touch with the senior lawyer and helped him make the contribution for the moving laboratory bus and to acquire the PPE kits..The Corona Rapid Testing Mobile Clinic can move from cluster to cluster without causing any issues, Rohatgi added.."This rapid testing bus will get into clusters and its like a small hospital getting inside the containment zones.".The senior lawyer also mentioned that more such initiatives were needed from the lawyer community towards the COVID-19 cause so that "the debt to the nation is discharged."."I do not seek to be lauded for my efforts. But more such initiatives are needed from the lawyer community. Each one of us should do their bit according to their own financial position to discharge a debt to the community...it is this community we are earning from, as these are the people who come to us with cases."Mukul Rohatgi.The former Attorney General also added that he has donated to the PM CARES fund and other voluntary organizations.
