The Advocate General (AG) of Tamil Nadu R Shunmugasundaram has constituted an internal complaints committee (ICC) to deal with sexual harassment complaints against law officers appearing before the Madras High Court..The move came after a complaint of sexual harassment was filed by a lawyer against a senior law officer of the High Court.After the complaint was sent to the Advocate General, he constituted an ICC to deal with such matters, as contemplated under Section 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act.The committee will comprise the following members as per an order passed on November 23.1. Senior Advocate R Vagai, Presiding Officer2. Additional Advocate General-1 of Tamil Nadu Haja Nazirudeen, Member;3. Special Government Pleader S Mythereye Chandru, Member;4. Additional Public Prosecutor GV Kasthuri, Member;5. Vidhya Reddy of TULIR (a non-profit working against sexual abuse), Member;6. Deputy Director in the office of the AG, T Dharaneeswaran, Member-Secretary..The notification added that sexual harassment complaints against law offices can be sent to the Member-Secretary, who in turn will place the matter before the committee for further action.
