The Central Government officially had declared the JKDFP as an unlawful association under UAPA on October 5. The UAPA provides that no such ban shall come into effect unless the same is confirmed by the UAPA Tribunal

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday notified the appointment of Delhi High Court judge Justice Sachin Datta as the presiding officer of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) Tribunal to review the ban imposed on Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP).
