Venture Intelligence 2015: AZB tops both M&A and PE League Tables

Venture Intelligence recently released its legal advisors league tables for Private Equity and M&A transactions in 2015, with AZB & Partners taking the top spot.

 M&A Deals

AZB & Partners tops the 2015 Legal Advisor league table for M&A transactions both by value and volume. According to the Venture Intelligence League Tables, AZB advised on 64 M&A deals worth $9.2 billion, followed by Luthra & Luthra ($6.1 billion across 10 deals) and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas ($5.4 billion across 31 deals).

AZB’s top M&A deals included the $1,170 million acquisition of telecom tower firm VIOM Networks by American Tower Corporation and the $800 million acquisition of Famy Care’s women’s health business by Mylan Laboratories.

Right behind Cyril Amarchand is Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas at fourth spot, advising on 27 deals worth $4.7 billion.

AZB also topped the table in terms of deal volume, followed by Khaitan & Co and J. Sagar Associates. Khaitan & Co advised on 36 deals worth $3.9 billion and J. Sagar Associates advised on 32 deals worth $2.04 billion.

The new entrants in this year League table included Veritas Legal, PDS Legal, Legalogic Consulting and Patanjali Associates.

PE Deals

AZB & Partners tops the Private Equity league table with 68 deals worth $8.9 billion, followed by Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas with 37 deals valued at $3.9 billion. Khaitan & Co took the third spot with 31 deals worth $2.8 billion.

Trilegal advised on 30 deals valued at $2.22 billion and IndusLaw advised on 53 deals worth $2.20 billion, taking the fourth and fifth spot respectively on the league table.

AZB & Partners also topped the table in terms of deal volume, while IndusLaw ranked second with 53 deals and Impact Law Ventures came in next with 42 deals. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (37 deals) and BMR Legal (36 deals) finished the year at fourth and fifth spot in terms of quantum of deals advised.

Some of the new entrants into the Venture Intelligence league table in the category during 2015 included Veritas Legal, Verist Law, LegaLogic Consulting, Themis Law Associates and Patanjali Associates.
