

Senior Advocate Vijay Narayan is slated to take over as the new Advocate General (AG) for Tamil Nadu after the recent regime change in the State.
Sources confirmed to Bar & Bench that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government led by film star Vijay has zeroed in on Narayan for the post of the State's top law officer.
He will succeed Senior Advocate PS Raman, who was serving as the State’s top law officer during the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government.
Narayan had previously served as AG of Tamil Nadu from 2017-2021.
Raman graduated from Loyola College and did his LL.B. from Law College, Madras in 1982. Soon after, he joined the chambers of Senior Advocate P Chidambaram and worked with the former Finance Minister till he became a Member of Parliament.
Narayan was conferred Senior Advocate designation in 2004.
He comes from a family of eminent lawyers and jurists.
He is the nephew of former Attorney General for India KK Venugopal. His paternal grandfather was legendary lawyer MK Nambiar and his maternal grandfather was Sardar KM Panikkar, member of the Constituent Assembly.
