National Law University, Delhi, through its Centre for Regulatory Studies (CRS), in academic collaboration with mentblue, has announced the first batch of its Certificate Course on Civil Litigation Drafting and Practice, under the Litigation Series. The course commences on October 31, 2026 and runs through December 2026.
The Litigation Series is a joint initiative of the Centre for Regulatory Studies at National Law University, Delhi, and mentblue, India’s practitioner-led legal education platform. The series comprises short, intensive certificate courses built to close the gap between classroom learning and the realities of court practice. Courses under the series are certified by NLU Delhi, with curricula approved by the University and supervised by the Centre for Regulatory Studies.
The Litigation Series builds on mentblue’s practice-oriented courses, which have been delivered across 26+ courses to over 2,800 participants. Alumni of these programmes are placed across India’s leading law firms and corporates, including Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, AZB & Partners, JSA Advocates & Solicitors, S&R Associates, Trilegal, Khaitan & Co, Nishith Desai Associates, CMS IndusLaw, Saraf & Partners, DSK Legal, TT&A, KPMG, Infosys, Jio Star, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and EY.
This 2-month intensive certificate course takes participants through a civil suit the way it is actually instituted, contested, tried and executed in practice. Across 16 live online sessions in four modules, a faculty led by two Senior Advocates and including Advocates-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India takes participants through the full life of a civil suit: jurisdiction and the plaint, the written statement, interim relief, discovery, trial and evidence, judgment, appeal and execution.
The programme is built for participants who want to move from knowing the Code of Civil Procedure to drafting and running the suit. Every stage is taught with templates of a Tier 1 law firm standard, covering the plaint, the written statement, the injunction application, the affidavit of evidence, written arguments, the memorandum of appeal and the execution petition, among others. The curriculum is built on the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, the Commercial Courts Act, 2015 and the Mediation Act, 2023, and is consolidated through two dedicated assignment workshops.
The course is taught by 10 practising litigators, led by two Senior Advocates and including Advocates-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India and a former judicial officer. It is a faculty of a standing seldom brought together for a certificate course: every session is taken by counsel who draft, file and argue the very pleadings and applications it covers.
The faculty comprises:
Nachiketa Joshi, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India
Satyakam, Senior Advocate, Delhi High Court
Pawan Reley, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India
Prasanna S, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India
