A team from Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) has won the Asian Law Students' Association (ALSA) International Moot Court Competition 2026 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The team comprised Varun Pratap Singh, Shiven Gupta, Anay Pratap Singh and Vandit Sharma. Shiven Gupta was also adjudged the Best Oralist (Overall).
The theme of the 2026 edition of the Competition was International Sports Law Arbitration.
The ALSA Competition brings together law students from across Asia and is designed as a simulated arbitration hearing. Teams are required to analyse legal issues, research relevant international legal principles and prepare written memorials for both the Claimant and the Respondent.
Memorials form the foundation of the competition and strong written submissions are essential for teams to establish a competitive standing before the oral rounds begin.
Oral rounds typically begin with preliminary hearings where participants present their arguments before a panel of arbitrators. Teams are often required to argue from both sides of the case across multiple rounds.
