RRU Launches International Law Week featuring Moot Court and Law Academy

The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) Centre for International Law, School of Criminal Law and Military Law has announced the launch of RRU International Law Week 2026 to be held at its Gandhinagar campus from November 20 to December 5, 2026.

Centred on the theme “International Law, Global Peace and Security,” the International Law Week comprises the Third RRU International Moot Court Competition (RIMC) from November 20 to 22, open to undergraduate law students from India and abroad.

The week also features the First RRU Lavad International Law Academy from November 22 to December 5, open to international practitioners, academics, legal advisers, and selected students.

Message from the Leadership

In furtherance of the vision of the Centre’s Chair, Prof (Dr) Bimal N Patel, Vice-Chancellor (VC), RRU, to promote international law studies, research, and inclusive participation from all UN regions, the organizers will award scholarships of up to $1,000 each to the top 12 international teams.

The scholarship covers boarding and lodging, field visits, and part of the airfare, on a case-by-case basis. No registration fee will be charged, with a view to promoting merit and wider participation.

About RRU International Moot Court Competition 2026

The Moot Court Proposition is crafted with a view to identifying contemporary issues in International Law and International Security by engaging with emerging global realities. The objective is to provide a platform for aspiring scholars of International Law to think prospectively, analyse complex legal questions, and apply established legal principles to evolving factual scenarios. It seeks to prepare young minds to address legal challenges that may emerge in the real world.

This requires a strong foundation in the traditional principles of International Law, an understanding of International Relations, adherence to the principles and values enshrined in the United Nations Charter, respect for the peaceful settlement of disputes, and a commitment to advancing the interests of humanity.

The forum also serves as a platform to identify future advocates who may represent States, legal advisers who may guide governments, and judges who may one day adjudicate such matters. The competition encourages participants to engage with recognized sources of International Law and develop practical, principled, and sustainable solutions.

Today's Moot Court Proposition may become tomorrow's reality, and today's students are tomorrow's public international lawyers. the forum seeks to connect the two by nurturing analytical excellence, and a deeper commitment to the rule of law. Through this endeavour, RRU aims to inspire a new generation of practitioners and scholars who will shape the future of International Law, global peace and security.

Eligibility

The Competition shall be open to all students who are bona fide and regularly enrolled in an undergraduate law programme (3-year/5-year or its equivalent) offered by any recognised institution in India or abroad, duly accredited by the competent authority. A recognized institution shall be entitled to send only one team to the competition.

In a system where a university has constituent colleges, each college can register a team or the university as such can be represented by a team comprising students from different constituent colleges.

Awards

Winning Team: Cash prize of ₹75,000/ $777 USD and Internship at RRU Centre for International Law (RCIL).

Runners-Up Team: Cash prize of ₹50,000/$518 USD and Internship at RCIL.

Best Speaker and Best Memorial: Cash prize of ₹30,000/$311 USD.

Scholarships

Top 12 International teams shall be awarded $1000 Scholarship as per the RIMC rule book, with a view to promote International Law Studies and research across various regions. Teams receiving the scholarship shall be mandatorily required to remain present in person for the entire duration of International Law Week, from November 20 to December 5, 2026.
