BITS Law School, Mumbai, a Law School under the aegis of BITS Pilani, an Institution of Eminence, invites applications for its five-year integrated, fully residential law programmes for the 2027 intake. The admissions process has commenced for its B.A. LL.B. (Hons) and B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons).
These programmes, approved by the Bar Council of India, combine core legal education with interdisciplinary learning across areas relevant to contemporary legal practice.
Students can choose from the five specialisations: Technology & Media Law, Corporate & Financial Law, Entertainment & Sports Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution & Mediation, and Public Law & Theory.
The admissions process follows the BITS Law Foundation Assessment (BLFA), a holistic approach that takes into consideration academic performance, recognised law entrance examination scores, extracurricular achievements, communication skills, and personal interview performance. It seeks to understand the individual behind the score, including the student’s ability to comprehend, communicate, reason, articulate ideas, and engage with contemporary issues. Through structured interactions with faculty, applicants get an opportunity to demonstrate their intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, communication skills, and motivation to study law.
This approach reflects the School’s belief that potential for legal education cannot always be captured by a single examination score, but requires an admission process that assesses not just what a student knows, but how they think and communicate. Every year, around 7,000 applicants apply for the five-year integrated law programmes. Candidates applying for the law programmes must have secured a minimum of 45% in Grade 12. Students awaiting their Class 12 or entrance examination results may also apply, with admission subject to submission of their final scores.
Candidates can apply through the BITS LAT (BITS Law Entrance Test) or with scores from recognised law entrance examinations, including CLAT, AILET, SLAT, MHCET Law, and LNAT. BLFA is a 60-minute online, proctored assessment that consists of 70 multiple-choice questions with no negative marking. It evaluates candidates across four areas: attention to detail, reasoning ability, verbal ability, and domain knowledge, including current affairs and general knowledge.
“At BITS Law School, we believe legal education should go beyond academic knowledge and encourage students to think critically, engage across disciplines, and respond to a rapidly changing world. Our five-year integrated programmes are designed to build strong legal foundations along with professional readiness, critical writing, mentorship, and personalised academic support, preparing students for diverse legal careers,” said Prof (Dr) Vishwas H Devaiah, Dean, BITS Law School.
Alongside its academic offerings, BITS Law School provides scholarship support to the students. These include the GD Birla, KK Birla, and Sarala Birla Scholarships for Legal Studies, which offer partial to full tuition waivers. Through workshops, networking events, career readiness programmes, and recruitment initiatives, students gain practical skills and exposure to leading law firms, corporates, policy organisations, and public institutions, preparing them for diverse career pathways across law firms, corporate legal practice, dispute resolution, public policy, technology law, regulatory practice, and the social sector. The School’s career support framework helps students make informed career choices, build professional networks, and transition effectively from academic learning to professional practice.
