NLU Delhi wins NLIU-NHRC Moot Court Competition 2026

The moot proposition dealt with problems at the intersection of human rights and criminal law.

National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) won the 1st National Law Institute University (NLIU) - National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Moot Court Competition, 2026 held from January 9-11, 2026.

The winning team comprised Kanishka Mittal, Unnati Padela and Manisha Choudhary.

Runners-up, NALSAR, NLIU-NHRC Moot 2026

The runners-up team from NALSAR, Hyderabad included Abhisaar Singh, Pracheta Waikar and Aarsh Pandey.

Abhisaar Singh was also awarded the Best Speaker.

The team from Symbiosis Law School, Noida comprising Babhravi Singh, Vrinda Kamra and Aditi Singh won the Best Memorial (Petitioner).

Devika Deshkar, Aarzoo Ansari and Sheen Wanchoo from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur won the Best Memorial (Respondent) award.

The moot proposition dealt with problems at the intersection of human rights and the new criminal laws.

The final round was judged by a bench of judges from the Madhya Pradesh High Court - Justices Vivek Agarwal and Vijay Kumar and Vishal Dhagat; as well as NHRC Registrar Joginder Singh; NLU Delhi Vice-Chancellor Prof GS Bajpai; NLU Odisha Adjunct Professor Dr Satyajit Mohanty; and Supreme Court Senior Advocate Nitya Ramakrishnan.
