Singularity Legal has announced a ‘Fast-Track Internship’ initiative for law students bagging achievements in international moot court competitions.

With this initiative, Singularity aims to enable law students with a keen interest in cross-border disputes to pursue an opportunity to work first-hand on such disputes and add the learnings from real-world disputes to their existing mooting experience.

Students achieving any of the following accomplishments would be eligible for an internship under this initiative:

Eligibility criteria for Singularity Fast-track internship

Applicants eligible for this initiative would be part of a separate internship pool, where they would be entitled to:

(a) A short turnaround on internship applications (within 7 working days);

(b) An exemption from a technical interview. The internship opportunity would be subject only to a peer interview and scheduling considerations;

(c) An increased stipend of between ₹15,000 - ₹ 25,000 per month.

Prateek Bagaria (Partner, Singularity Legal) welcomed the new initiative, commenting,

“Singularity has a long legacy of nourishing young talent with an interest in cross-border disputes. With this initiative, we hope to make it easier for law students to build up this interest with real world experience. We have been very impressed in the past with interns with a strong mooting experience, and we look forward to encouraging and training more such students in our firm.”

Natasha Kavalakkat, presently a counsel with Singularity, was picked for recruitment based on her mooting achievements.

“Mooting was my favourite thing about law school. It instilled in me a deep appreciation for the complexities of international disputes. Shortly after my successful participation in Vis, Singularity reached out and offered to interview me, which led to me joining the firm. And with the work we do at Singularity, it often feels like I am still mooting!” she said.

Kavalakkat was a semifinalist and second runner-up best speaker at the Vis East Moot 2020.

Applicants are advised to email us at: accelerate@singularitylegal.com and superscribe "Fast Track Internship" on the subject line.

As an international disputes boutique, Singularity handles cross-border disputes arising out of business relations and projects in various parts of the world, and involving the intersection of applicable laws from these jurisdictions, as well as public international law and international investment law.
