Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) is intended to resolve debates outside of the court with the assistance of an unprejudiced outsider. This way is for the most part open after endeavours between the client and the guarantor to determine any distinctions between themselves comes up short and arrives at a stalemate.

The 5th Amity ADR Tournament, 2022 was conducted by the ADR Society of the Amity Law School, Noida on the 3 and 4 March 2022. The Tournament consisted of three competitions namely, Negotiation, Mediation-Arbitration, and Client-Counselling.

There were total of 4 rounds for each competition. The preliminary rounds and the quarter-final rounds took place on the 3^rd of March 2022. The semi-final rounds and the final rounds took place on the 4^th of March 2022. The problems for the for all the competitions (total 12 different problems) were drafted by Advocate Atin Handuja. The problems were based on civil law, contract law, constitutional law, consumer law, intellectual property rights, family law, property law and other ancillary laws. Amity Law School, Noida witnessed the participation of 77 teams from various Law Schools across the nation.

Commencement of Rounds

The tournament was inaugurated on Thursday 3 March 2022 by special training session for all the participants by SCC Online. The preliminary rounds began at 10:00 AM for all the three competitions with proceedings in 15 rooms for Negotiation, 27 rooms for Client-Counselling, and 10 rooms for Mediation-Arbitration taking place simultaneously. The quarter-final rounds took place on the same day at 02:00 PM. The proceedings took place in 4 rooms for Negotiation, 8 rooms for Client-Counselling, and 4 rooms for Mediation-Arbitration.

The semi-final rounds took place on Friday 4 March 2022 with proceedings taking place simultaneously in 2 rooms for Negotiation, 4 rooms for Client-Counselling and, 2 rooms for Mediation-Arbitration. The final rounds for all the three competitions commenced at 02:00 PM with proceedings taking place in 1 room for Negotiation, 2 rooms for Client-Counselling and 1 room for Mediation-Arbitration.

Valedictory Session and Awards

The valedictory session commenced at 04:00 PM on Thursday 4^th March 2022 and various dignitaries from the legal fraternity were invited as guests of honour to address and throw light about the legal filed to the aspiring young students.

The various guests of honour for the valedictory ceremony were Hon’ble Ms. Justice Rekha Palli, Sitting Judge at the Delhi High Court, distinguished Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Mr. Justice (retd.) Rajesh Tandon, Chairman Arbitration and Mediation centre, INBA and Former Judge, High court of Uttarakhand, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mukete Tahle, Senior Judicial and Legal Officer Cameroon, Co-Founder GNGG, Founder REWAC, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mohammad Abdul Halim, District and Sessions Judge, Chottogram, Mr. Joseph M. Matthews, Senior Arbitrator, Mediator and Advocate, The Florida Bar, Mr. Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate and Vice-President, Supreme Court Bar Association, Mr. Ramesh Gupta, Senior Advocate and Former Chairman, Bar Council of Delhi, , Ms. Kiran Bhardwaj, Advocate, member: governing council ICADR and Mediator- Supreme Court. The dignitaries addressed the audience with their expertise and experience in the legal fraternity and encourage the students to keep developing their skills through participating in such competitions.

Client-Counselling - NUJS, Kolkata, comprising of Mr. Pratik Aggarwal and Ms. Navya Salampuria.

Mediation-Arbitration - V.M. Salgocar College of Law, comprising of Ms. Komal Mathur and Mr. Cain Afonso.

The Tournament was conducted virtually and 77 teams from various universities across the nation participated.
