Know your Campus Ambassador: Anant Gupta, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur

Bar & Bench

Over the last three years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students provide us with information on campus events and activities, as well as share legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Anant Gupta, a first-year law student at the Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur.

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law?

I chose to study law because I have always found the Legal field as a whole very intriguing. I love helping those who are not able to help themselves. I wanted to make a difference in our justice system, and I want those who are facing hard times in our system to know that there are individuals that are on their side, that are willing to not only fight with them, but for them in their time of need even when they feel as though they might not have anyone else to turn to.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

I have been following Bar & Bench since I was preparing for the Common Law Admission Test, and when I entered law school, I needed a field where I could work on my skills as well as increase my awareness towards various legal events happening across different law schools through my peers with whom I would be interacting in this program, and I think this role of a campus leader gives me that opportunity.

What are your plans after completing law?

To be completely frank, I don't really know. I have a time period of 5 years to decide which field I’m really interested in. In the course of my career, I wish to hone my communication skills, team-building, and decision-making abilities, at the same time cultivate a strong aptitude for leadership.

So after completing my law, I plan to work with legal experts and practitioners, in the hope to specialize in a field that interests me, and continue being introduced to nuanced legal concepts.
