Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Ramey Rana, a third-year law student at the Delhi Metropolitan Education in Noida

Why did you choose to study law? Did you have any other interests before deciding to pursue law school?

I have constantly taken one quote by my heart throughout my life “every man is guilty of all the good things he didn’t do” and I see the law as a tool which can bridge that gap.Moreover, “pen is mightier than the sword” and when you know how to use your pen rightly then for us the law is the strongest weapon if used wisely.

In my school time, I always thought of being a policeman to do justice, but then with maturity, I realized that it’s not the policeman (unlike the current police system which beliefs in instant justice) but a judge or a lawyer who can get you actual justice.

I have a way of speaking while taking a moral stand but it’s always about matching your words with your action hence law.

People around me see “pro bono publica in the making” and I just don’t want to let them down.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

Sometimes it’s not about choosing things to become a part of but finding reasons to constantly stay as a part of and for me that reason was our mentor who has workwise helped every and each Campus Ambassador while helping them get their articles published, being a supportive link to get Bar & Bench as our media partners for many law events and many other things.

Bar & Bench because I feel it’s is one of the greatest legal journalism platforms one could be a part of and personally as a law student being a part of such a platform in itself is an achievement.

Bar & Bench because where could you find unbiased law news and various views while connecting all the legal fraternity at one place. It’s like the digital record room of numerous courts in one place.

What are your plans after graduation?

“Yesterday is history and tomorrow being a mystery”. Deep inside us, we all think the best for us and our future. (In case Bar & Bench has no intention of hiring me then I have no plans and dreams as of now).

I have left this decision to be made with time as I have 60 seconds and 60 moods and with the ever-changing time and new openings in near-term this plan is completely undecided.

Though even I always want to be in the line where I could do something for the well-being of this society so yes, I’ll soon figure it over time.
