Khaitan & Co Associate passes away after cardiac arrest

The lawyer had a congenital heart issue.

A young Associate of Khaitan & Co passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest yesterday morning.

An alumnus of National Law Institute University (NLIU) Bhopal, Devansh Srivastava was a first year Associate at the firm's Banking & Finance practice. He had joined the firm in 2020.

The lawyer, who had a congenital heart issue, breathed his last at his hometown Gorakhpur, sources at the firm confirmed.

Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was working from home.

Confirming the news to Bar & Bench, Executive Director Amar Sinhji said,

"While we await the exact details from his family, we have been informed that Devansh suffered from a congenital heart disease, and that he succumbed to a cardiac arrest. He was immediately taken to the hospital by his parents but could not be revived.

His last rites were performed by his family at Gorakhpur yesterday.

It is extremely unfortunate and we are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of a young soul. We are in touch with his family to support them in every possible way. We pray for his soul to rest in peace and for God to give his family the strength to cope with their immense loss.”
