Bangalore-based law firm Poovayya & Co has paid full salaries to all its lawyers and staff in advance for two months (March and April).
The firm, which largely focuses on litigation and commercial work, has paid full salaries in advance so that all lawyers and staff have sufficient funds at their disposal to wade through these difficult times.
Managing Partner Sanjanthi Sajan Poovayya says that a law firm should firmly stand with its lawyers at such times.
"I am of the view that a law firm should firmly stand with its lawyers and staff at such times of crisis and provide all support it can, including full financial support. There is enough uncertainty and paranoia resulting from COVID-19 and we would like to do everything to mitigate it for our team. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas had earlier paid bonuses in advance to all its lawyers across offices.
Last week, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas too paid all its lawyers full bonus. Yesterday, Khaitan & Co release bonuses to its staff and lawyers.
