Pooja Mahajan, a Partner at the Amarchand Mangaldas Delhi office has recently resigned. She is likely to pursue academia. Pooja was made a Partner in July 2013 along with 12 other lawyers across all offices.
Amarchand Mangaldas Managing Partner Shardul Shroff confirmed Pooja’s resignation. In an email response Shroff said, “She has decided to go abroad for further studies. She also proposes to travel and study Indian music and teach law in the meantime before her own study courses commence.”
Shroff added, “We wish her well in these endeavours.”
Pooja is part of the firm’s corporate practice group. She is a graduate of Delhi University and did her LL.M. from Oxford University. She initially worked in the chambers of Arun Jaitley for about two years before pursuing her LL.M. She joined Amarchand in 2007 and has been with the firm since then.
Speaking to Bar & Bench, Pooja said she has been working for a long time and wanted a breather. On her future plans, she said, “I just want some time off and figure out what I want to do next. A PhD is one of the options. In the meanwhile I want to teach. There is no concrete plan as such.”
She leaves the firm on March 31.
