Bar Council of Delhi makes Aadhaar, Voter ID with NCR address compulsory for future enrolments

This is a departure from the earlier rule as per which a self-attested copy of a rent agreement showing Delhi address was sufficient for address proof enabling enrolment.

Bar & Bench

Lawyers proposing to get enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi will now have to produce their Aadhaar and Voter ID cards showing Delhi or the National Capital Region (NCR) as their place of residence.

The Council issued a circular in this regard on Thursday, pursuant to its decision taken at a meeting held on April 6 this year.

The circular said that fresh law graduates looking to enrol in the national capital will need to compulsorily attach their Aadhaar and Voter ID card copies bearing an address in Delhi/NCR.

No enrolments henceforth will take place without these documents, it stated.

This is a departure from the earlier rule as per which a self-attested copy of a rent agreement showing Delhi address was sufficient for address proof enabling enrolment.
