Centre notifies appointment of Aniruddha Roy as Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court

The Collegium had made a recommendation for Roy's appointment as a Judge in January this year.

The Central government has today notified the appointment of Advocate Aniruddha Roy as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court.

The notification reads,

In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Aniruddha Roy, to be an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
Central Notification

The Supreme Court Collegium had reiterated its recommendation to elevate Advocate Aniruddha Roy as a judge of the Calcutta High Court in January this year.

The Collegium had earlier made a similar recommendation in October last year.
