Centre notifies appointment of two new judges to High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh

The High Court of J&K and Ladakh is currently functioning with 11 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 17.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has notified appointment of two judicial officers as judges of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The two judicial officers are Principal District and Sessions Judge of Jammu, Mohan Lal and Principal District and Sessions Judge of Srinagar, Mohd Akram Chowdhary.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their names for elevation to High Court on September 1.

The Collegium had also reiterated the names of lawyers Rahul Bharti and Moksha Kazmi (Khajuria) for judgeship but their names are yet to be notified.

The High Court of J&K and Ladakh is currently functioning with 11 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 17.
