The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of judicial officer Yash Paul Bourney as a judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The recommendation was approved by the Collegium at its meeting held on September 10
“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 10th September, 2026 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Yash Paul Bourney, Judicial Officer, as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” the Collegium statement said.
The statement is brief and does not disclose Bourney’s present posting or provide further details about the recommendation.
The Collegium’s recommendation will now form part of the process for his proposed elevation to the High Court.
Bourney is a District and Sessions Judge in the Super Time Scale and is currently serving on deputation as Member of the J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu. He has been posted there since November 14, 2025.
Born on August 25, 1967, Bourney entered judicial service on December 1, 1997. He entered his present cadre on August 30, 2011.
