Collegium recommends that three Additional Judges of Calcutta High Court be made Permanent Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has intimated its proposal to make three additional Judges of the Calcutta High Court permanent High Court judges.

In this regard, a statement issued to this effect today names the following additional judges of the High Court:

  • Justice Bibek Chaudhuri

  • Justice Subhasis Dasgupta

  • Justice Suvra Ghosh

As stated in the Collegium statement,

"The Supreme Court Collegium on 20th April, 2020 has approved the proposal for appointment of following Additional Judges of Calcutta High Court as Permanent Judges of that High Court: 1. Shri Justice Bibek Chaudhuri, 2. Shri Justice Subhasis Dasgupta, and 3. Smt. Justice Suvra Ghosh."
Collegium Statement

The Central Government had appointed Justices Chaudhuri and Dasgupta as additional judges of the Calcutta High Court in October, 2018.

A month later, Justice Suvra Ghosh was also appointed as an Additional Judge of Calcutta High Court, pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation issued in the same year.
