Cyril Shroff has introduced another significant change in the firm’s management structure, with the appointment of heads for Delhi and Southern regions.

Arjun Lall

Bangalore-based Equity Partner Arjun Lall has been made Head of the Southern region, overseeing operations in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Percy Billimoria is joining as Head of the Delhi region, and Gauri Rasgotra has been appointed as Deputy Head.

Arjun Lall is part of the firm’s Capital Markets group. A graduate of National Law School of India University, Arjun was made partner in 2008. He initially worked in the Mumbai office till 2005, after which he moved to Bangalore.

The firm has recently also appointed national practice heads and practice chairs. Under the new structure, the following are the National Practice Heads:

  • Reeba Chacko – Corporate
  • Santosh Janakiram –Projects
  • Yash Ashar– Capital Markets
  • SR Patnaik– Tax
  • Ipsita Dutta– Financial Regulatory Practice

The firm has also appointed the following Chairs:

  • Cyril Shroff – Corporate, Tax, Competition, FRP, PCP, Real Estate, Intellectual Property
  • L Vishwanathan – Banking, Projects and Capital Markets
  • Percy Billimoria – Disputes, Regulatory, Advocacy and Policy

Moving away from the 15 internal committees announced last year, the firm will now have only three, namely the Core Advisory Committee, the Markets and Clients Committee and the Talent and Remuneration Committee.

All these developments come at the time when the firm is seeing some star partner exits. Ashwath Rau and Nisha Kaur Uberoi are leaving to join AZB & Partners. Neeraj Sharma and his team have also left in Delhi.

At the same time, the firm has made a number of major hires. It has hired Percy Billimoria from AZB, Ruetvij Pandya from JP Morgan, Shagoofa R Khan from IDFC, and Gautam Gandotra and Manisha Kumar from J. Sagar Associates.
