Devidas Pangam named new Advocate General for Goa

Bar & Bench

Devidas Pangam has been appointee as the new Advocate General for the State of Goa, TOI reports.

Pangam replaces Dattaprasad Lawande as the state’s top law officer. Lawande had been serving as Advocate General since 2014.

After enrolling with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in 1995, Devidas Pangam began his practice under Senior Advocate Ferdinho Rebello. He has served as standing counsel for the Medical Council of India and the Goa State Election Commission among other entities.

Pangam was recommended for elevation as a judge by the Bombay High Court Collegium in May 2018. However, the Supreme Court Collegium, in a resolution passed on March 25 this year, chose to remit the recommendation to elevate him and three other lawyers.
