Juris Corp Equity Partner Mustafa Motiwala to join Clasis Law in Mumbai

Juris Corp Equity Partner Mustafa Motiwala, who had resigned from the firm in September, will be joining Clasis Law, according to sources. When contacted, both Motiwala and Clasis Managing Partner Vineet Aneja declined to comment.

Motiwala, who qualified as a Bombay Incorporated Law Society solicitor in 1996, has over 20 years of experience in commercial law and is also a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. Prior to setting up his own practice, AM Law, in 2007 he was working with Dua Associates as Partner for about three years.

In June 2011, Juris Corp had merged with Motiwala’s firm, AM Law, with Motiwala joining the firm as an Equity Partner. Three years after he had merged his practice with the firm, Motiwala opted to leave the firm.

Recently, Clasis Law saw exit of its two Mumbai Partners Ishtiaq Ali and Damodara Rao, who have set up ‘Orbit Law Services’ along with Venkatarao Ponnada, former Group General Counsel of the Reliance Anil Ambani Group.

This was not the first such departure from Clasis Law. Exactly a month prior to the establishment of Orbit Law Services, the firm’s London Partner Sakate Khaitan left the firm to set up ‘Khaitan Legal Associates’.
