Justice L Narasimha Reddy appointed CAT Chairman

Justice L Narasimha Reddy who retired as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court in July 2015 has been appointed the Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

Justice Reddy’s appointment received Presidential approval on June 28, 2018. His remuneration has been fixed at Rs. 2,50,000 per month and will hold office for a little over three years as he will reach the age of 68 on August 1, 2021.

The terms of his service will be governed by the provisions of the Administrative Tribunals Act (1985), and the rules made thereunder, according to the notification.

Justice Reddy who took a degree in law and a Masters in International Law, from Osmania University in Hyderabad, served as a Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, between 2001 and 2015. He was subsequently appointed Chief Justice of the Patna High Court; a post he held for just under 6 months.

Justice Reddy will take over from Justice Dinesh Gupta, who was appointed chairman in April this year.
