The Central Government has notified the appointment of Justice Ravindra Bhat as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

The office of the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court had recently fallen vacant after erstwhile Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog was transferred to take charge as the new Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Concurring with this proposal, the Government has now notified as follows,

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Shripathi Ravindra Bhat, Judge of the Delhi High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”

Justice Bhat, who was born in 1958, graduated in law from Campus Law Centre in 1982. He enrolled with Delhi Bar Council the same year. He practised before the Delhi High Court, Supreme Court, and other judicial fora.

He was appointed an Additional judge of Delhi High Court in 2004 and was made permanent judge in 2006. In December last year, it was reported that Justice Bhat was likely to be recommended as the Rajasthan High Court’s Chief Justice. He will be taking over the mantle of the High Court from Acting Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq.
