Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta, sitting judge of Jammu & Kashmir High Court passes away

Justice Gupta was elevated as a High Court judge in 2017.

Jammu and Kashmir High Court judge, Justice Sanjay Gupta passed away this evening due to illness.

Justice Gupta, aged 59, is survived by his wife and one son and one daughter.

He was elevated as permanent judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on June 6, 2017. He had enrolled as Advocate in Bar Council of Delhi in 1986, and joined the Jammu Bar when he started working at the chambers of Senior Advocate SS Lehar.

He was selected to higher judicial service through direct recruitment and served as District and Sessions Judge in 2004 and was posted as Additional District and Sessions Judge, Doda. He has served as District and Sessions Judge in various courts at Jammu.

Born in 1961, Justice Gupta completed his B.Sc from G.G.M Science College, Jammu and did his LL.B. from University of Jammu.
