The Kerala High Court has set time limits for adjudication of regular and anticipatory bail applications filed before the High Court by accused in criminal cases.
According to a notice issued on September 10, the Chief Justice has set an upper time limit of 2 weeks to dispose of regular bail applications. Time granted for counsel to get instructions in regular bail matters shall not be allowed to exceed 7 working days.
For anticipatory bail applications, the maximum time for disposal has been set at 6 weeks.
The notice was issued in line with the Supreme Court's May 11 order which directed High Courts to take steps to speed up bail hearings.
