Allahabad High Court sitting Judge, Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava succumbs to COVID-19

Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava, a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court has passed away after being afflicted by COVID-19.

Justice Srivastava was sitting at the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.

He obtained his law degree in 1986 and completed his post-graduate studies in 1988. He was, thereafter, appointed in the Higher Judicial Service in 2005. He was promoted as District and Sessions Judge in 2016.

Between September 20, 2016, and November 21, 2018, he served as Principal Secretary (Legislative).

In November 2018, he was appointed an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court. His post was made permanent in November 2020.

Recently two Delhi Court judges succumbed to COVID-19 infections. A Family Court judge in Delhi, Kovai Venugopal, passed away last week after being on leave a week. Metropolitan Magistrate, Kamran Khan reportedly passed away on Tuesday, after a week on ventilator support. Judge Khan reportedly held his last virtual hearing on April 18.
