NLSIU grad Thomas Sebastian inducted into Essex Court Chambers

Sebastian was previously a Barrister at Monckton Chambers for over a decade.

Former Barrister at Monckton Chambers, Thomas Sebastian has joined Essex Court Chambers in London.

Sebastian is a 1999 graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU) and has a BCL and MPhil in Law from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes scholar.

Prior to working with Monckton Chambers in London for over a decade, Sebastian was with Allen & Overy LLP in London for two years. Before this, he served as Counsel at the Advisory Centre on World Trade Organisation (WTO) Law, Geneva for seven years.

Sebastian was also a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics for three years until 2020, and has contributed significantly to leading publications like Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Harvard International Law Journal, Journal of International Economic Law and Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, among others.

According to the Essex Court Chambers website, Sebastian acts in complex regulatory and commercial disputes. His practice spans public international law (in particular, WTO law and investment treaty law); international arbitration; commercial litigation and competition law.
