NLAT for NLSIU Admissions 2020: Instructions for PWD candidates released

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru has notified instructions for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) who are writing the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT) for NLSIU admissions this year.

Notably, all PWD candidates will have 15 minutes extra time to write the NLAT exam at both UG and PG levels.

This apart, the following instructions have been issued for such candidates with benchmark disabilities with respect to engaging scribes:

• PWD candidates with visual impairment, cerebral palsy and locomotor disability (both arms affected) are entitled to avail the services of a Scribe.

• PWD candidates with other types of benchmark disabilities are entitled to avail the services of a Scribe, provided they submit appropriate medical certificates to the effect that the candidate has a physical limitation to write. A form to be filled by such candidates has also been provided in the NLSIU notification.

• PWD candidates will be required to choose their own Scribe and submit a Letter of Undertaking. The prescribed form for this has been provided in the NLSIU notification.

• The minimum educational qualificaton of the Scribe is matriculation (Class 10 pass) or equivalent.

• The maximum educational qualification of the Scribe cannot exceed the candidate’s own qualifications.

• All PWD candidates who wish to avail the services of a Scribe must fill in the necessary fields in the ‘Reservations Tab’ of their Application Form and upload their documents on the NLSIU Admissions Portal at admissions.nls.ac.in.
