ICC India, in consultation with the ICC International Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat, has appointed Sameer Jain, as Chair of the ICC India Arbitration Group, with Aanchal Basur appointed as Vice Chair, effective September 1, 2026.

Jain is the Managing Partner at PSL Advocates & Solicitors and Basur is Partner at AB Law.

Both Jain and Basur are members of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and formerly served as regional representatives of ICC’s Young Arbitration and ADR Forum from India.

Jain previously served as a member of the IAG’s core committee, while Basur served as its Secretary.

Sameer Jain succeeds Shashank Garg, under whose leadership the Group expanded its engagement with practitioners, in-house counsel, students and other stakeholders across the arbitration community.

Speaking on the appointments, Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, said,

“We are pleased to welcome Sameer and Aanchal to their new leadership roles within the ICC India Arbitration Group. Both bring outstanding experience, credibility and a long-standing association with ICC. Their leadership will be instrumental in further strengthening the Group’s role as a platform for engagement, knowledge-sharing and thought leadership. We are grateful to Shashank for his tireless work during his term and for bringing the IAG to the forefront of arbitration initiatives in India.”

Jain is widely recognised for his work in commercial disputes, international arbitration and complex cross-border matters, with more than 18 years of experience. He has acted for Indian and international clients, including state-owned entities, across a diverse range of industries.

Speaking on his appointment, he said,

“I am honoured to take on this role and grateful for the trust placed in me by ICC India and the ICC Court. The ICC India Arbitration Group has played an important role in deepening engagement with the arbitration community in India, and I look forward to working with Aanchal and the wider Group to build on that momentum, expand dialogue across stakeholders and further strengthen awareness of ICC arbitration and ADR services.”

Basur's practice focuses on international arbitration arising from commercial disputes across a range of sectors, including energy, healthcare, hospitality and manufacturing. She acts for Indian and foreign parties in matters seated in India and abroad, appearing before tribunals and national courts and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

On her appointment, she said,

“I am delighted to support the ICC India Arbitration Group in this new capacity. ICC has long provided an important forum for practitioners, users, academics and young professionals to exchange ideas and engage with international best practice. I look forward to working with Sameer and the Group to continue fostering inclusive conversations and meaningful opportunities for collaboration within India’s arbitration and ADR community.”

The ICC India Arbitration Group promotes ICC Dispute Resolution Services in India and works closely with the arbitration community to raise awareness of ICC arbitration and ADR mechanisms. Through conferences, workshops, training programmes and policy discussions involving practitioners, corporate counsel, public sector entities, academic institutions and young professionals, the Group supports the continued growth of arbitration and ADR in India and encourages greater participation in the global dispute resolution landscape.
