The Advocates Association Bengaluru has resolved to go on strike indefinitely should the vacant posts at the Karnataka High Court are not be filled by December 15..President of the Advocates Association HC Shivaramu confirmed the same to Bar & Bench, stating that efforts are being made to seek an appointment with the Chief Justice of India, the Prime Minister of India and the Union Law Minster to personally apprise them of the state of affairs in Karnataka. A strongly worded representation has been sent to each of them..The resolution was passed at a meeting held yesterday by the Association, and attended by Senior Advocates. It states,.“…even very urgent matters could not be taken up and all the overburdened judges are working under severe stress seriously affecting the quality of justice dispensed…If immediate action is not taken, litigant public may loose (sic) all faith in the judiciary.”.It was also resolved that the lawyers would take “all possible agitational methods including hunger strike” till the vacancies are filled..In related news, a petition has been filed by former High Court judge Justice AN Venugopala Gowda calling for the judicial vacancies to be filled up.
