The mediation between Shroff brothers is not over yet, with Shardul and Cyril Shroff still finalising the final documentation relating to the split.

As reported earier, the Bombay High Court had given time till April 30 to file the mediation report. It is understood that the Shroff brothers have already sought time till May 5, which means the official formation of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, will only become effective after May 5.

Irrespective of when the mediation report is filed, both the Shroff brothers are already positioning their new teams and have made a number of senior level lateral hires.  Not only that, both Shardul Shroff and Cyril Shroff have also acquired prime office space in Mumbai and Delhi respectively.

Interestingly, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas may be on the verge of pulling off a major merger of sorts if the rumour mills are to believed. The firm has been unusually quiet even as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has been making a number of lateral hires at the Partner level, and bulking up resources in Delhi.

According to sources, the elder Shroff brother is eyeing a hundred-lawyer firm based out of Bombay to mark his entry into the Bombay legal market.

Just which 100-lawyer firm it will be remains unclear at this point of time although there are two firms in particular who seem to be likely contenders. If Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas does pull this off, it will be one of the biggest mergers of its kind, and will immediately give Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas the numbers to kick off its new operations in the Mumbai market.
