The Appellate Tribunal for Forfeited Property (ATFP) got a new Bar Room on Thursday to facilitate better working conditions for lawyers appearing before it.

Located at Khan Market in Delhi, ATFP is one of the oldest tribunals in the country that adjudicates appeals under key legislations, including the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPT), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA and Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).

Notably, the lawyers appearing before the tribunal recently formed the Appellate Tribunal for Forfeited Property Bar Association as well.

The Bar Room was inaugurated by ATFP Chairperson Justice Muneshwar Nath Bhandari in the presence of Bar Association President Arun Agarwal, General Secretary Prashant Pandey and several other members of the Bar.

During the inaugural event, Justice Bhandari said that the establishment of the Bar Association would foster cooperation between the Bar and the Bench.

“I think, from the side of the Tribunal, we should endorse that we have a wonderful atmosphere here. With the great support of the Bar, we are in a position to dispose of a number of cases which were pending for 20 to 30 years. Fortunately, with the cooperation of the Bar members, we could expedite the disposal of these cases. I hope and trust that the cordiality we share will be maintained and further strengthened over time,” he said.
