The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, set up for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, will have its registered office at the Delhi residence of former Attorney General for India K Parasaran.
Parasaran had led the arguments before the Supreme Court for the Hindu parties when the five-Judge Constitution Bench was hearing the Ayodhya title dispute.
In its judgment delivered in November last year, the Supreme Court, while ruling in favour of the Hindu parties, had directed for a scheme to be drafted by the Centre in accordance with the provisions of the Ayodhya Act for facilitating the construction of the Temple. This scheme was to be formulated within three months from the date of the judgment. It is under this scheme that the setting up of a Trust has been envisioned.
A trust by the name “Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra” has been set up and notified today. The Official Gazette notification specifies the location of the registered office of this Trust which happens to be Parasaran's home in Delhi.
The deadline of three months given by the Supreme Court for setting up a scheme for the Ram Temple was to lapse on February 9. Just days before the deadline, the formation of the Trust has now been notified.
