AZB & Partners Capital Markets Partner Madhurima Mukherjee is leaving the firm, citing personal reasons.
Speaking about the development, the firm's Managing Partner Ajay Bahl said to Bar & Bench,
Bahl went on to say,
"Recently, she mentioned that the unprecedented events around us have caused her to reflect on what she would like to consider for herself and where she would like to focus her time and attention going forward.
Given the mixed emotions that most of us are dealing with at this time, I could understand where her decision was coming from, and have accepted it. We wish her the best. She continues to remain a member of our family and those ties will remain unaffected."
Confirming her exit from the firm, Mukherjee said,
"I have decided to move on from AZB. AZB has been home for the last few years. With collective hard work, we have built a great practice. We had quite a successful last year, as we were involved in many significant transactions."
"However, personally, I have done this for a good many years. I have been thinking about this for a while. From the exciting beginnings of this practice till today, it has been a long and eventful journey.
But while there is comfort in continuing on a well-trodden path, the pandemic seemed a good time for reflection and recalibration on the next phase of my career. AZB continues with a team of excellent lawyers. I will always wish them the best."
Mukherjee had joined AZB & Partners in August 2014 to head the firm's Capital Markets practice.
