  • Malik Mazhar Sultan v. UP Public Service Commission

Item 2 in court 1 – C.A. No. 1867/2006

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, SK Kaul, KM Joseph JJ.

During the last hearing, the Supreme Court had expressed its dissatisfaction at the Government of West Bengal for its failure to respond to the query regarding infrastructure for the subordinate judiciary.

It had then ordered the Chief Secretary of the State to inform the Court about the precise date/dates on which the projects under construction and projects which are yet to commence will be completed. It had also sought the personal presence of Chief Secretary of the State and the Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department along with the Registrar General of the High Court.

  • Alok Kumar Verma Vs Union Of India And Anr.

Item no. 3 in Court 1 – W.P.(C) No. 1309/2018

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Sanjay Kishan Kaul, KM Joseph, JJ

Petition by CBI Director Alok Verma challenging the orders passed by Central government divesting him of his powers and sending him on a leave in the wake of an infighting in the agency between the top two officials. The matter remains part heard and the arguments by all the parties are expected to conclude today.

Today in Court: Attorney General for India KK Venugopal concluded his submissions for the Centre and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, for CVC, began with his arguments. The hearing will continue tomorrow at 10.30 AM.

  • Competition Commission of India v. Bharti Airtel (For Judgment)

Item 1502 in court 3 – SLP (C) 35532-35533 /2017

Bench: AK Sikri, Ashok Bhushan JJ.

An appeal by the Competition Commission of India against a decision of Bombay High Court. The High Court had quashed a CCI order which had directed an investigation into allegations of cartelisation by mobile companies including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. The probe was directed by CCI  based on information by another mobile company – Reliance Jio.

Today in Court: The Court dismissed the petition filed by the CCI and stated that the question of jurisdiction in the case will have to be decided by TRAI that governs the telecom market before the CCI can intervene.


  • Delhi High Court Bar Association vs S Gurumurthy 

Item no. 19 in Court no. 34– CONT.CAS.(CRL) 10/2018

Bench: Siddharth Mridul and Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, JJ.

The case pertains to the contempt petition filed by the Delhi High Court Bar Association against Chartered Accountant S Gurumurthy for making scandalous allegations against Justice S Muralidhar.

Today in Court: DHCBA President Kirti Uppal continued with his submissions. Matter would be heard next on December 6.


  • The Tamil Nadu Chemists and Druggists Association vs Union of India

Item no. 52 in Court no. 21 – WP 28716/2018

Bench: Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana

The case pertains to a challenge to the online sale of medicines through e-pharmacies. On admission, Justice R Mahadevan had granted an interim injunction on the unlicensed sale of online medicines. After a roster change, the matter was posted before the present Bench of Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana.

Today in Court: The case has been posted to be taken up for further arguments on Monday.
