  • Subrata Chattoraj vs Union of India

Item no. 49 in Court 1 – MA 309/2019 in WP (C) 401/2013 [at 3.30 pm]

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna

These are applications filed by the CBI against the West Bengal government alleging non-cooperation in the Saradha scam investigation. One of the applications had prayed for a direction to be passed to question the Commissioner of Police of Kolkata, Rajeev Kumar.

Item no. 52 in Court 1 – W.P.(C) No. 501/2019

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjiv Khanna

This petition is filed by the makers of the biopic feature film based on the life of PM Narendra Modi. The petition challenges the order of the Election Commission to stay the release of the film during the period of the imposition of Model Code of Conduct.

Today in Court: The EC directed to view the film and decide on the same issue and inform the Court of its decision by April 19 in a sealed cover.

This contempt petition has been filed by the BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi against the ‘chowkidar chor hai’ statements made by the Congress president in relation to PM Narendra Modi after the Supreme Court dismissed Centre’s preliminary objection in Rafale Review petition.

Item no. 54 in Court 1 – WP (C) No. 333/2015

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna

Petition seeking to bring political parties under the purview of the Right to Information Act and challenges the validity of the electoral bonds scheme. Last week, the Court had passed an interim order directing all the political parties to disclose details of the donations received by them through electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India.
