BCI-DU affiliation row may be resolved soon says BCI Chairman; Osmania, Kakatiya University now face BCI action

The ongoing tussle between Delhi University and the Bar Council of India is expected to be resolved soon, with a BCI inspection team to be constituted within a week. The report also states that each Law Centre, there are three under Delhi University, will be treated as a separate institute.

This development comes a few weeks after the BCI barred DU law graduates from enrolling in any bar council, and also saw a PIL being filed before the Delhi High Court against the BCI’s directive. 

With both the BCI and DU’s Law Dean going on record to say that the formalities have been completed, hopefully the affiliation row will be a thing of the past.

The same cannot be said for two universities in Telangana, namely Kakatiya University and Osmania University.

Graduates from both these universities have been barred from enrolling in the state bar council. Interestingly, Osmania University had previously challenged the 1.5 lac inspection fee, and had successfully got a stay on the payment of this fee from the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
