Breaking: Delhi High Court clears 85 names for Senior Advocate designation

The Delhi High Court on Thursday cleared the proposal to designate 85 lawyers as Senior Advocates.

The decision was taken at a full court meeting held this evening.

According to sources, the names were placed before the Full Court after assessment by the Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates. A total of 231 names were assessed by the Committee, and the entire list was then sent to the Full Court.

The Committee consists of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Justices V Kameswar Rao, Nitin Wasudeo Sambre, Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) President N Hariharan, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma and Senior Advocate Sanjay Jain.

Sources added that 86 of the 231 candidates qualified under the criteria, and 85 have been cleared for the senior advocate designation. Eleven of these are women.
