The Central government has cleared the appointment of Advocate Preeta Aravindan Krishnamma as a judge of the Kerala High Court.
The same was announced by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal via a post on his official X page.
Preeta AK has several decades of experience practicing law before the Kerala High Court. Her elevation to the Bench was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium earlier this month.
Along with her, the Collegium had also recommended the elevation of Advocate Liz Mathew, who practices before the Supreme Court. Her appointment has not yet been notified by the Centre.
The Kerala High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 47, is currently functioning with 38 judges. Once Preeta takes the oath of office, the vacancy position will drop to 8.
