The Central government on Saturday cleared the appointment of Justice PB Bajanthri as the next Chief Justice of the Patna High Court..Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the development on X..The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Bajanthri's name for appointment as Patna High Court's Chief Justice on September 11..Justice Bajanthri is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, following the elevation of its earlier Chief Justice, Justice Vipul Pancholi to the Supreme Court of India.Justice Bajanthri enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and practised before the High Court of Karnataka and various tribunals. Between 1993 and 1994, he also appeared as standing counsel for the Karnataka Public Service Commission.Justice Bajanthri was appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on January 1, 2015. He was later transferred to the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, where he took oath as a judge on March 16, 2015.On November 17, 2018, he was repatriated to the Karnataka High Court. He was subsequently transferred to the Patna High Court on October 20, 2021.
