The Central government on Monday cleared the appointment of advocate Sachin Shivajirao Deshmukh as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court..The development was tweeted by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name for appointment in September 2024.His name was part of a list of nine lawyers recommended for appointment.The government cleared five of them in October 2024 but Deshmukh's name was not among those cleared..As on May 1, the Bombay High Court is functioning with 65 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 94, a vacancy position of 29.
