Centre clears appointment of two lawyers as judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court

The High Court is currently functioning with 11 judges as against its approved strength of 17.

The Central government on Friday cleared the appointment of  two advocates as the judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the development via X.

The lawyers who have been cleared for appointment are:

Jiya Lal Bhardwaj;

Romesh Verma.

The government decision came pursuant to the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on September 15.

The High Court is currently functioning with 11 judges as against its approved strength of 17.
