Collegium recommends 10 advocates for appointment as Punjab and Haryana High Court judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of 10 advocates, including three women lawyers, as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Collegium on Monday. The lawyers recommended for the judgeship are:

(i) Monica Chhibber Sharma;

(ii) Harmeet Singh Deol;

(iii) Puja Chopra;

(iv) Sunish Bindlish;

(v) Navdeep Singh,

(vi) Divya Sharma;

(vii) Ravinder Malik;

(viii) Pravindra Singh Chauhan;

(ix) Rajesh Gaur; and

(x) Minderjeet Yadav.

Senior Advocate Pravindra Singh Chauhan, who is also in the list of recommended names, is the Advocate General of Haryana.

Senior Advocate Navdeep Singh, a leading name in military law, has also been recommended for judgeship. He is also an author and former officer in the Territorial Army.

There are currently 58 judges in Punjab and Haryana High Court. It has an approved judge strength of 85 – a vacancy of 27.
