
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of advocate Tuhin Kumar Gedela as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
In the meeting held on July 2, the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai and also consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath recommended the appointment.
"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 02nd July, 2025 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Tuhin Kumar Gedela, Advocate, as a Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh," the collegium resolution read.
As on July 1, the Andhra Pradesh High Court is functioning with 28 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 37, a vacancy position of 9.
Notably, Bar & Bench reported today that the Collegium has tightened the process for selection of judges and intensified scrutiny of candidates.
It was also revealed that the Collegium interacted with a total of 54 candidates in 2 days to fill High Court judge vacancies.
