Collegium recommends Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, a judge of the Orissa High Court, as Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.

The recommendation was made at a Collegium meeting held on August 6 and comes consequent upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha on September 4.

If the Centre confirms the Collegium's recommendation, Justice Mohapatra will take charge as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court following the incumbent's retirement.

Justice Mohapatra worked as Additional Standing Counsel for the State as well as the Orissa Public Service Commission, and served as advocate for entities including Central Cooperative Banks Limited (Keonjhar), the National Institute of Open Schooling under the Ministry of HRD, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, and Bank of Baroda.

He was elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015 where he has been serving till date.
