Priya Mehra, Bharat Vansh Bahadur co-pilot Akasa Air legal team ascent

Priya Mehra, who had initially joined Akasa Air to handle the legal and compliance vertical, now has an expanded role to head three verticals - Legal & Compliance, Fleet Acquisition & Management, and Regulatory Affairs.

Akasa has also expanded the role of Deputy General Counsel Bharat Vansh Bahadur to Senior Vice-President & General Counsel. Bahadur will lead the legal and compliance vertical of Akasa and report into Mehra.

Mehra joined Akasa in November 2021 from Indigo as Chief Legal Officer. She had joined Indigo in December 2016. Before that, she was working with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Singapore. She was part of the firm’s India team led by Jai Pathak. Before joining Gibson in 2008, she worked with Jones Day in Singapore, a position she took up in 2007 after five years at AZB & Partners.

Mehra is a graduate of Delhi University. She is dual qualified to practice in India and England & Wales and has an extensive background working in Indian markets.

With over 18 years of experience, Bahadur has worked at various law firms and in in-house roles. He has been associated with the aviation sector for over 7 years, starting with IndiGo in 2017 and later transitioning to Akasa Air in 2022.
